Palmdale SAVES/UAV Food Challenge

Palmdale's South Antelope Valley Emergency Services (SAVES) challenged the University of Antelope Valley Culinary Arts School (UAV) to create meals for people in need using donated food. This video demonstrates the process and results of the challenge. The challenge was part of a larger outreach effort to encourage restaurants and stores to donate food rather than throwing it away. By transforming food that otherwise would have been sent to the landfill into gourmet meals for community members who don't know where their next meal is coming from, the chefs and student chefs at UAV were truly able to bring the message full circle.

South Antelope Valley Emergency Services (SAVES) is dedicated to alleviating hunger among very low and extremely low income working families, elderly, disabled and homeless in the South Antelope Valley. We help sustain the lives of thousands of people by assisting them with nutritious food, education and referrals in cooperation with other agencies.
