Graduate Assistant - Volleyball

University of Antelope Valley Athletic Department invites applicants for the position of graduate assistant. UAV volleyball competes in the California Pacific Conference and is a member of the NAIA.

Responsibilities:   

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting the head and assistant coaches in daily operations; assisting in all aspects of coaching in practices and games; assisting in overall program planning, organization and fundraising; assisting with video analysis and other duties assigned by the head coach.

All department coaches and staff are required to demonstrate exemplary ethical conduct and conformance to NCAA rules and regulations; the duties of the position are to be performed in compliance with all NAIA, CALPAC and UAV rules and regulations; and any rules violations on behalf of themselves or any knowledge of violations within the department are to be reported to the appropriate parties.  Employees in coaching positions are required to maintain current AED/CPR and First Aid certification.

Qualifications:   

  • The candidate must be able to be accepted by one of University of Antelope Valley’s Graduate programs. Degrees and description of the degrees can be found at www.uav.edu. The candidate also must have strong organizational skills, work ethic, willingness to have flexible hours, ability to work effectively with student-athletes, and be committed to developing as a coach. 
  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Competitive collegiate playing experience, or similar, required
  • Excellent communication (oral & written) and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
  • Self-starter and ability to multi-task with attention to detail
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Ability to provide skill instruction and leadership

Appointment:       

Up to 1 year

Tuition:    

Candidate will receive a partial scholarship towards a Master’s degree program of their choice provided by the University of Antelope Valley.
